A non-profit organization is governed by the by-laws adopted and amended by the general membership as well as any parliamentary procedure rules (for the Southampton Neighborhood Association this is Robert's Rules of Order). In addition the statutes of the State of Missouri that apply to non-profit organizations must be followed. In terms of federal taxation, the Southampton Neighborhood Association is not a 501(c)3 non-profit and this means that membership dues, donations, and sponsorships are not tax-deductible on federal taxes.

In order to steer our all-volunteer organization as we fulfill our mission, our Board began developing policies. These policies will serve as a guide for our volunteers, our members, and our Southampton neighbors.
